SHORT BIO
Emma, artist name E S, is a 22-year-old singer, songwriter and producer from Worcester, now living in London. Being a self proclaimed ‘weird child’, Emma always turned to creative outlets to express herself when she couldn’t. After a diagnosis of autism, she decided to explore her brain more and accept herself for who she is.
all her music is proudly all produced and written by herself.
As E S, Emma has now released 3 tracks, Sweet Tooth, Red and Window, gaining over 9000 monthly listeners in her first 6 months since debuting.
Sweet tooth has now past 20,000 streams on Spotify alone, with Red close behind.
Red was also picked up and played by Jess Iszatt on Radio 1 BBC introducing and Window is also receiving critical acclaim in the first few days of release.
Emma treats her dark R&B and alternative pop music she releases as a piece of art that is an extension of herself, and is a massive perfectionist, but is still in love with the process of creating.
She aims to one day have the means to bring people on a visit to her weird and wonderfully dark universe.

Musically inspired by the likes of Melanie Martinez and Rei Ami, this song was written for a college assignment with the challenge of writing a song that could be suitable for your favourite artist.
All written and produced alone, this song includes childlike lyrical references and instrumentation such as toy pianos and layered basses, alongside catchy melodies and head bobbing beats.

I wrote and produced this track in a few hours after being tasked with an assignment to write a song inspired by your favourite artist. I chose Melanie Martinez.

I decided to take inspiration from her first album Cry Baby, and how she used a lot of childlike references.

I researched playground clapping songs you’d do as a kid, and found Apple on a stick. After watching a YouTube video of the clapping pattern I replicated it in logic, and used some of the lyrics from the song too.

I really enjoyed recording the kids voices in particular, shouting from different angles in my bedroom then editing them in my DAW to sound like children in a playground.

Using the toy piano/glockenspiel sound inspired specifically from her track ‘Pacify her’ and the signature deep bass, I had eventually created a track I felt could be suitable for Melanie.

I initially recorded the vocals at home, but I was lucky enough to re-record them at Warner studios with my friend and producer Jauntin.

Originating from the depths of E S’s subconscious, this song was written in a dream before becoming a reality. The lyrical content is raw and honest and speaks about the feeling of being inconsequential in the world when you are surrounded by people who are seemingly better than you.
With strong lead vocals, atmospheric backing and a indie-pop beat, this track is addictively bitter.

I had a very vivid dream about creating and singing this song to a specific artist that I’m really jealous of, screaming at them to give me their life because mine felt so inconsequential at the time.

As soon as I woke up I wrote and produced the song in the matter of a few hours, trying to do it quickly so that I wouldn’t forget what I heard in the dream.

The take away from this song is that it’s okay to feel like you’re lesser than other people and that’s a feeling that a lot of people have. It’s important to strive to sit beside people that you’re jealous of, and not give up because you feel inferior.

Musically inspired by the likes of Rei Ami, FKA twigs and Billie Eilish, this song was written with the Netflix series 'YOU' acting as a lyrical muse.
All written, produced and recorded alone in E S's bedroom, the Instrumentation includes pianos, mallets, 808 and acoustic basses and over 40 vocal tracks/individual parts and is hauntingly sexy.

I’m a big fan of the show ‘YOU’ on Netflix, which is largely depicted from the perspective of a stalker who kills people in the name of love.

I had the idea to write from the perspective of the person being stalked, but what if this person was into it in a deranged way?

I wanted the lyrics to play into the stalkers fantasy, how killing could be justified and stalking fetishised.

This song was written with the idea one day of it being included in the show.

The composition was written, produced and recorded at home, starting with the beat inspired by FKA twigs ‘lights on’, then chords, lyrics and instrumentation were all added to create the final version. The final mix was done by Paul Norris at Metropolitan.
